2021_IX. Kringlan, Nature Break Free

The artist “Trettmann”, who wrote the first song “Grauer Beton” I used in my video, comes from the east part of Germany (Chemnitz). He lived in one of the biggest prefabricated housing of the GDR and processes his experiences with the chosen song. For me, his sound appeals to the pure functionality of his former place of residence and conveys how monotonous  and depressing this kind of concrete architecture seems. So in my survey of Kringelan, I’ ve found some parallels to this song of Trettmann.

On the other hand there were some interesting places, where plants push through cracks in the material surface. It seems as if nature reclaims its habitatis, which has got a quite euphoric effect on me.

For this positive discovery of the eruption of nature against civilization I have found the song of Queen “I want to break free”.

It gives hope that nature could interact with architecture in this place after all, it only has to be controlled a little and interwoven in a targeted manner, which could be an interesting task for architects.
