NOISE

« a sound or sounds, especially when it is unwanted, unpleasant or loud.”

The noise as a disturbing sound, spreads in the space and invades it.

I felt a constant background disturbance when I walked through the main area. I represented it as a white noise, consisting of a signal having an equal intensity at different frequencies. I relate it to the constant traffic occurring in Kringlan.

When the waves are coming across objects, they are stopped. I could experience it by going a bit further in the residential sector where the noise decreases.

I hope that our work, resulting of our analysis will permit Kringlan to be a more peaceful place.

PHASE 3 Designing Kringlan
Task 6: Shaping Politics
Task 7: Designing Concept
Task 8: Designing Politics

The Path
That Connect us Together

We are going to present to you our future vision of Kringlan area. We aim to create green and walkable spaces where people feel welcomed and where the Paths guide and connect people together. We wanted to answer the need of small and affordable housing in Reykjavik. By densifying the area and creating a good dynamic between the buildings, we aim to create a community where we involve various activities and public spaces. It will create attractions to the area, in which people will be able to work, live and enjoy several cultural activities. When designing our concept, we wanted to reduce our impact on the ground and keep as many green areas as possible. To reference to the history of the area we are regaining the wetland and trying to keep the actual biodiversity that will have the opportunity to grow. We emphasized the actual and future connections to the surrounding neighborhoods and the city that will be increased thanks to Borgarlinan.
